Liverpool ease past West Ham with Salah strike

Unstoppable Salah nets winner

The Egyptian King was on target again as Liverpool beat West Ham 1-0 at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah's 22nd goal of the Premier League season gave Liverpool a hard-fought victory over West Ham on Saturday.

The Egyptian forward struck the only goal of the game in the 67th minute, latching onto a through ball from Trent Alexander-Arnold and firing home from the edge of the area.

Victory moved Liverpool up to second in the table, two points behind leaders Manchester City. West Ham remain 13th, six points above the relegation zone.

Liverpool dominated possession from the start and could have taken the lead in the first half when Salah hit the post from close range.

West Ham defended resolutely but were unable to create any clear-cut chances of their own.

The breakthrough came in the second half when Salah raced onto Alexander-Arnold's pass and slotted the ball past Lukasz Fabianski.

West Ham pushed for an equaliser but Liverpool held on for a valuable three points.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was delighted with his team's performance.

"It was a tough game but we deserved to win," he said.

"West Ham are a good team but we were the better side today. We created more chances and we were more clinical."

West Ham manager David Moyes was disappointed with the result but praised his team's effort.

"We worked hard but we didn't create enough chances," he said.

"Liverpool are a top team and they deserved to win. We need to learn from this and move on."
