The Celtics improved to 2-0 against the Mavericks this season and took a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinals. Game 5 is Thursday night in Boston.

Jayson Tatum led the Celtics with 39 points and 11 rebounds. He was 14 of 26 from the field and 6 of 12 from three-point range. Brown was 8 of 18 from the field and 4 of 8 from three-point range. Porzingis was 8 of 13 from the field and 2 of 4 from three-point range.

Luka Doncic led the Mavericks with 31 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Kristaps Porzingis added 22 points and 11 rebounds, and Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 19 points.

The Celtics took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Mavericks 35-22. They led by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter before the Mavericks cut the lead to 119-110 with 2:08 remaining.

The Celtics made their free throws down the stretch to seal the victory. They were 18 of 22 from the free-throw line, while the Mavericks were just 10 of 17.
