Williams Driver Loses Eighth Place on Grid

FIA Technical Delegate Raises Issue with Car Floor Body

Alex Albon, driver for Williams, has been disqualified from the results of Saturday's qualifying session at the Dutch Grand Prix. The disqualification stems from an issue with the car's floor body, which was identified by the FIA technical delegate and referred to the stewards for review.

Williams introduced a new floor and diffuser as part of a package of upgrades to the car at the Dutch Grand Prix. However, it appears that the new components did not meet the FIA's technical regulations.

Statement from the FIA

The FIA released a statement explaining the disqualification: "The stewards determined that the floor body of Car 23 [Albon's car] did not comply with the relevant technical regulations. As a result, the car has been disqualified from the qualifying session."

Consequences for Albon and Williams

The disqualification means that Albon will start the race from the back of the grid. This is a significant setback for the Williams team, as Albon had qualified in eighth place. The team will also lose the points that Albon would have earned if he had finished the race in that position.

Williams Investigating the Issue

Williams is investigating the issue with the car's floor body. The team has stated that it is "disappointed" with the disqualification and is working to understand how the issue occurred.

The disqualification of Albon is a reminder of the importance of following the FIA's technical regulations. Teams that fail to comply with the rules may face penalties, including disqualification from races.
